Coffey grabs first top five in 4th career 600 start.
Linwood, NY – August 11, 2008
After a busy week, going over the car and making a trip to the engine builder to dyno the engine, it proved to be a very valuable trip as Billy Coffey grabs his first career 600 Micro Sprint top 5 finish.
Coffey started 3rd in his heat race and finished in the runner up spot despite banging on the rev limiter half way down the straights. “As soon as I hit the track for the hot lap session I could feel the difference in the car and the trip to Guhl’s was time well spent.” Stated Coffey.
Coffey’s 2nd place finish would place him 3rd on the starting grid for the feature and with changes between the heat and the feature, Coffey was feeling confident that the car was going to be good.
On the start Coffey lost one spot and spent the whole race hounding the 3rd place runner but just couldn’t finish the transaction and had to settle for 4th place at the stripe.
“It was just a tough race. All the cars in the top 5 were hitting their marks and it was making it extremely hard to gain any ground, but we are very happy to collect our first top 5 finish in only our 4th start in the car.” Coffey said of his feature event.
